ABOUT
Julius Schepansky is an emerging concert artist interpreting Classical works from Bach to Mozart, Sibelius to Janaček, contemporary works and works dedicated to him. A seasoned international soloist Julius has connected with audiences with tours through Europe and Asia. Julius Schepansky’s performances include numerous live to air radio broadcasts for national and international radio as well as solo and chamber music appearances in venues such as the MÜPA Budapest, Kölner Philharmonie, Laeiszhalle Hamburg and others, invitations offered to him as laureate of the „Nachwuchsförderpreis NRW 2017“ and scholarship holder of the German music competition 2018. He has also performed at festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Festival, Sommerliche Musiktage Hitzhacker and Klavierfestival Ruhr. Highlights of the season 2023/24 include concerts with bassoonist Mathis Stier organized by the „European Concert Hall Organization“. Julius Schepansky completed his musical formation with his mentor Claudia Buder and his Bachelor’s Degree under Mie Miki, followed by one one year of interim study in Copenhagen with Geir Draugsvoll. In 2023 he proceeded his Master studies with Joseph Petric at the Université de Montréal, supported by a scholarship of „Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben“. In addition, Julius holds a Bachelor´s degree for jazz piano and is currently a private student of Glenn Zaleski. As a leading accordionist of his generation, Julius was invited to participate in Canada’s Lunenburg Academy of Performing Arts 2020. In July 2022 he completed the Canadian Career Development Performance Apprenticeship (CDPA) a unique seminar for emerging artists laser focused on interpretive success in the international concert hall. An artist of diverse interests, recent explorations include trips to New York City’s mecca of progressive jazz venues and musicological study of facsimile manuscripts of the works of J.S. Bach, Domenico Scarlatti and C.P.E. Bach in preparation for future programs.
